Groups

Groups are mainly just chat channels. You can message other users and join suggested sites.

Join

The easiest way to join a group is to get an invite from the group owner. You just have to click on the invite and accept.

If they invited you but you can't find the invitation, you can join/add it:

1. Click the Main Menu button:
2. Click the Groups menu item:
3. The Groups dialog should appear.
4. Click the More Menu drop down:
5. Click Join:
6. A dialog should appear.
7. Enter the Group ID (someone should have told you what it is).
8. If you want to enter the group now, keep the checkbox selected.
9. Click OK.
10. If you kept the checkbox selected, you’ll see the group button appear in the status bar. It should like this (unless the group has a custom icon). That button means you’ve entered a group. You can click on this button anytime to access the group options.

Create

To create your own group:

1. Click the Main Menu button:
2. Click the Groups menu item:
3. The Groups dialog should appear.
4. Click the More Menu options drop down:
5. Click the New Menu item:
6. A dialog should appear.
7. Enter a Group ID.
8. (Optional) Enter a Display Name. This has less restrictions than the ID.
9. If you want to enter the group now, keep the checkbox selected.
10. Click OK.
11. After a few seconds, the group should be created. If you kept the checkbox selected, a button should appear in the status bar, that looks like this . That button means you’ve entered a group. You can click on this button anytime to access the group options.

Enter

You can join as many groups as you want, but only enter a maximum of 4 at the same time.

To enter a group:

1. Click the Main Menu button:
2. Click the Groups menu item:
3. A dialog should appear.
4. Click on the group you want to enter.
5. Click the Enter button in the toolbar:
6. A button should appear in the status bar that should like this (unless the group has a custom icon). That button means you’ve entered a group. You can click on this button anytime to access your group options.

Invite

You can invite users to a group if you’re the creator/owner:

1. Anywhere you see a [username], right-click on it.
2. Click Invite to Group:
3. Click OK.
4. The user will get a message inviting them to the group, but they can choose to ignore it or join it even days later.

You can also invite and remove multiple members at the same time from the group properties using the Groups dialog. Note you can't do this using the group dialog from the status bar.

Exit

Exiting a group is temporary and you can re-enter at any time.

To exit a group:

1. Click the group button in the status bar: (or some custom icon)
2. The group dialog should appear.
3. Click the Exit Group button:
4. The group button in the status bar should disappear.

Quit

Quitting a group permanently removes it from your groups dialog and removes your membership.

If you quit a group, you'll probably need an invitation if you want to join again.

To quit a group:

1. Click the Main Menu button:
2. Click the Groups menu item
3. A dialog should appear.
4. Click on the group you want to quit.
5. Click the More Menu drop down:
6. Click the Quit Menu item:
7. Click OK.
8. The group should disapear from the dialog.

WARNING

Quitting a group you created, it will delete it for everybody.
